Tracking and monetizing from the latest news

Do you read or watch news everyday?

Well, I bet you will be tracking the latest news every day after you read this.

One of the easiest way to make money with your blog is by posting a related information on the latest trend and news topics. If you don’t have a established blog yet, I strongly suggest that you start a blog today. I’d setup a blog to log the hottest news topics of the world. Once you get regular visits from search engine crawlers and have a reasonable Page Rank, whatever you publish from your blog will rank well in search engines for the terms related to the latest trend /news topics.

I have two trend blogs that I haven’t shared with anyone. I’ve setup these blogs purely for this reason. On these blogs, I basically log the latest trend and hottest news topics to come. And it’s been working great. One blog focuses on health related news, and the other one is for everything else, such as natural disasters, fashions..and etc. To help you imagine how effective this method, I still get good amount of traffic for 2004 tsunami (which killed more than 275,000 people) related search terms. I thought it would last for about 2-3 months, but boy I was wrong. After a year, I still get traffic for that term.

Sorry, I can’t reveal URLs for these blogs because of the terms with joint bloggers who also owns a portion of them. But I’ve setup a similar blog to show you how it works. Take a look at my trend blog again which went live not too long ago.

I’ve picked up the topics from various sources where I saw increasing number in search queries on these topics.

How effective it is? well, here is a screen shot of my Yahoo Publisher Network account. This was my 4th day after my official launch. The graphic is actually a one piece, but I had to cut it in half to fit the size of my blog. This is from November 30th, from a single channel.

So, here is my advice to you. I was able to earn this much money because my blog was already established. It helped my new subdomain pages to get indexed faster. But if you start today and build something similar, you will hit it someday. Build a trend blog or a news blog that tracks the latest news and trend. Once your site gets credit from search engines and you have posts related to the terms that just started to emerge on the net, search engines will have no choice but to put your posts really high on their result pages. I’ve acheived numerous #1 positions with PR 0. You can do it too.

Oh, btw, as usual, feel free to copy the topics I have on my trend blog. It’s yours.

Bo, I am very interesting in trying this but am having a hard time getting a trend blog up and I wanted to do one for Christmas. I’ve got a couple other questions up but have some ideas so I thought I’d email again.

Would it be too much to ask if you would mind putting up a Blog Template like the Trend Blog you showed here (like you did for website)?

    Thanks again, Lin

Bo, can you explain how tos on setting the specifics on the blog after you get it uploaded? Do we add Yahoo Adsense acct and if so how? I noticed you are being paid by Yahoo. Do you have Google on the same blog?

    Thanks,
    Lin

    Bo, very interesting!

It sounds great! Could you expand on How Tos Step by Step?

WHere do you find articles? Do you copy and paste? Or can they be automated?

    Thanks, Lin

Thanks for mentioning techonorati. Once you get listed there, you can get good quality traffic from technorati based on searches done there.

This is one of the most powerful things to do for instant traffic.

If you are utilizing technorati and such as well you will have your blog posts linked to from all sorts of “digest” sites that log all posts about popular topics.

    This builds PR very fast.

Very easy technique to plug into an existing blog as well.

Just keep in mind you have to keep things on topic for it to work ;)
