What a day…
As I said in my last post, my Paypal account was hacked today. First, I thought this person hacked my bank account, but it was found to be a scam email targeted to Bank of America customers. What a timing. Anyway, this person got into my Paypal, and canceled all my subscriptions. Then changed the primary email and tried to add a new credit card information which was probably a stolen card or something.
I was really glad that the hacker didn’t bother purchasing stuff online with my Paypal account. It would’ve been really easy to do that since my account was directly linked to my bank account. But for some reason, this person erased all my bank information and just transferred my Paypal balance. I will be able to get my Paypal balance back soon.
I was really impressed with Paypal today. I was able to talk to real people within minutes and they took care of it right away.
ah.. btw, the hacker put some person’s information in my profile. I was able to contact this person today and told him someone’s trying to use his identity. Looks like his P.O box could’ve been the source of identity theft.
Lessons learned today… always change the password and always watch for suspicious activities in your account.

You have to be SO careful these days with accounts and passwords. I made a 3 month schedule now to change passwords. Oh, BTW i use RoboForm for password changing.
It’s great for encrypting passwords and store them! Great tool for this kind of solution

Thanks Joel.
It was just crazy. The good thing is that I got my Paypal money back yesterday. They reversed the transaction for me.

I’m glad to hear that it’s getting all sorted out for you.
There was a show on one of those dateline type of shows that was about identity theft online. One of the criminals they showed did use a P.O. to route everything through.
