April Fools’ Day and lies

I’m not a big fan of April Fools’ day. It’s the day I should just take a break because I usually make critical mistakes on April Fools’ day. People get me really bad. I once wrote a check of $300 to a charity that never existed, and I drove down to Ocean City (where I go fishing with my friends) (about 2-3 hours of driving) just to find no one.

Today, my wife tricked me badly by switching the clocks around the house, making it 2 hours ahead of the right time. Then I was going through morning routines, reading emails and RSS feeds. I was keep reminding myself not to get tricked by anything, but a few things.. really got me again. Nana’s email.. which I read it like twice and almost made a post about it. lol. Here is the email.

Hi Bo,

sorry I don’t usually send out emails
on Sundays, but I had to make an
exception. Because…

I’m writing to say goodbye.

I gave it my best shot, but I can’t
keep faking it for ever. I’m not the
guru I’ve been pretending to be all
these years.

I work 3 jobs, one of them at a
well know fast food restaurant.
I learned that art of the up sell
from them. But obviously, not
well enough.

So it’s with great difficulty that
I write this message to you today
to say.

Bo, I’m leaving the
IM game. I’m just not made for
this. I’ll be focusing more on
working my 3 jobs to make ends
meet.

Thanks for all your support over
the years. I was good while it
lasted

Well, then Shoemoney came up with a code that displayed a message saying he’s closing down the blog. When you refresh the page, you are redirected to the original blog. I thought it was kinda cool, but it got me as well. I actually did a search in Google to see what happened to Shoemoney. Well, when I pressed the link, the blog came up just like it usually does.

I just don’t like all these April Fools’ Day jokes & tricks. People say I should just relax and have fun, but to me, it’s a day full of lies. And I hate lies :)

    Hi Bo,

I noticed you mentioned Ocean City and a flood of memories came back to me. I was raised in Bethesda, MD and OC was our annual vacation destination. I formed a R&R band in 1965 and we ended uo playing at The Paddock Nite Club for the whole summer! What a dream come true that was for me. To be a rock star in my favorite place. Those are days I will never forget.

I’ve lived in San Diego since 1973 (beach party movies drove me to the Best Coast). I’ve been doing Classic Car Shows http://www.SanDiegoAutoSwap.com here since 1990. I am living my American Dream. Its beach time 7/24 and I get to play with cool cars.

Now I am working on becoming an IMer. I built my first site in 1995 http://www.CarsNet.com for fun. Now I am building sites for fun AND profit.

I look forward to some great ideas from you.

I logged on to my Gmail to be greeted by “Gmail Paper” - I read the description and I was excited. I began explaining it to my mother, who was close by. It seemed to make sense and it seemed to provide a very clever extension to the AdWords service. Imagine, being able to choose your market based on physical locations..

Either way, then you realize you were “lied” to. I believed it because it was from “Google”.. Though eventually something clicked in the back of my mind and.. “Ahh yes.. today is April 1st..”..

Yeah, it’s not really my day of the year either.
