Blog Topic Suggestion

I’ve found a potential niche topic which I want to share with you all. I’m in the process of making a minisite on this, but it’s not done yet. (It is now live).  Check out US Postal Service Rates.  I didn’t grab any domain names for this. This minisite will be added to my main blog. I found this topic during my normal researching session, and thought it would be cool to put together a minisite for this topic.

The main keyword is : US Postage Rate (+increase)

I’m not going to list other keywords here because I think this is a good way to guard a niche topic for serious niche marketers. I believe if you are going to do anything with this market you would go and do deeper market research on the topic. This way, I can be assured that this information is handed only to the ones who’s willing to work for it.

The recent postage rate increase spurred the search inquiries for this particular term, but I believe this term is ok for long term tactics as well. People always search for postage rate when they have something to mail out.

My research shows that the competition level is moderate, but most of the pages are from news sources which will fade away from the top search sources. Also, the top positioned sites have relatively low PageRank. I think with my news site, I will be able to get into top 10 position for certain terms easily. We will see how it goes.

Again, I’m sharing something that I’m personally working on, so don’t abuse it and use it for yourself.

I agree with Jimmy. This is the best free website on internet marketing I have ever seen and also it’s far better than many of the paid one’s,

    Bill,
While these topics are ideal for minisites or for a blog post, they can often hit big and go big scale. For example, back in November 2005, I blogged about Eddie Guerrero, and take a look at how many people left the comment there.

I still get hundreds of people to that post from search engines and that post alone made me over $200 since november, all from organic traffic. Not bad for a 10 minutes of my time? After 3 months after his death, I get about 100 uniques daily for his name.

So you don’t know what’s going to happen.

Bo, this is a great example of something that I too have been thinking about lately. One thing that a lot of people think about is making a Christmas site in december…..lots of competition, or an Easter site in February…also a lot of competition soon enough, but you mentioned a couple of weeks ago about a site for the coal mining disaster and that also makes you think about other items such as a the already named hurricanes for next year (you can research this easily) or even time based events such as the Olympics in Vancouver in 2010 with the names of athletes to watch for now and brief bios of what they are doing (damn should have kept that to myself).

Point is that there are always news events that we can see. CNN does not just jump to news stories thay also have scripted stories that they know will happen such as elections, fed meetings and even trials on the horizon that they know will be news and can research ahead of time. I am sure we can do this too on a smaller scale in mini sites or blogs.
